Using totally free Blogger as a way to earn an income

I know I usually rant and rave about having your own domain name site or blog being seen as more professional, but if you don’t even have money for hosting or a domain registration, and at least have Internet access, then a totally free Blogger blog may be at least the start you need to start making an income online – whether this income be from a product you’re selling (that you promote with various articles on your free blogspot.com site), or from services you offer (that you write related articles about on your (Blogger) blogspot.com blog), or from using Amazon and Google Adsense ads on your blog. (Or even from promoting other affiliate products on the blog.)

If you have access to the Internet, and want to start promoting what you do or sell, or are trying to make money from, but don’t want to yet spend money on hosting or domain registration – start with a free blog!

What makes Blogger even more attractive, these days, as a platform from which to start earning an income online, is that they have gorgeous new templates, all free, and that one can modify even further by choosing from a wide variety of images to place in the background.

Do not discredit free blogs as a place to start “getting yourself out there.” And hey, I must really mean I like them (free Blogger blogs), if I’m promoting them even though Tony and I design websites and should be trying to get you to hire us to design a website, or host with us, or get a domain registered through us etc.

I really should even be using a Blogger blog to promote Blogger, but this WordPress blog is my Work At Home Jobs blog, and feel the post is more appropriate here, where Tony and I help others with ideas about working from home.

For my Teresa Schultz Blogger blog, I chose one of the new templates, and left it as is, without even putting an image in the background (although I did go through a whole lot of them seeing what the blog looked like with the images in the background – and liked loads of the looks, and may change my theme later), as for now I’m happy with just the theme I chose.

My boys got excited about all the free images to add to the background of their blogs though, and you can see what they’re currently using here:

Hey, just try it. It’s free. Get yourself a free blogspot.com address blog at Blogger, and try all those different themes. Take pride in the look of your blog, and then get started making money online. Good Luck!

  2. I stumbled upon your blog by accident through Google and Im glad I did. Your posts are very informative. I’ve just begun to make some money online and it’s articles like these that have gotten me this far. If you are just starting out, I suggest you pay attention to these posts and bookmark them. Thanks again.

  3. A great advantage of having diverted Internet traffic to your blog is you can go make some affiliate sales for a large number of companies. You can promote and raise a company’s products and earn some money from their referral programs every time your referral results in selling your product.

  4. [...] – Although I highly recommend a self-hosted website, or, even more than a self-hosted website, a self-hosted WordPress blog, you could still always start up with a free Blogger blog. [...]

  5. Blogger is great and I enjoy reading your posts there, Terry. I think in some ways there is merit in not having a slick website sometimes – as it shows that you are an ordinary person blogging rather than some big company, which suits some blogs.

There are some things on Blogger that can annoy me. I can find the Amazon ads difficult to place on the page in Blogger, which frustrates me sometimes, although it probably wouldn’t be so much of a problem if my html skills were better.

I am trying to spend more time with my WordPress sites at the moment, which is partly why I am writing this under my Coupons and Couponing site name!

Hi Paul – thanks for popping in here too – your html skills will improve with time – just be patient. Good to hear you are trying to spend more time with your WordPress sites – I really enjoy mine, and I think WordPress is just great! I do enjoy my Blogger blogs too, though – aaargh – wish there were more hours in a day!
