Okay, a paw-paw (papaya) is not the cheapest fruit around, but buy just one paw-paw, eat it and enjoy it, and then enjoy it further – and profit from it – by making money from its pips.
How?
There are loads of pips in a paw paw.
Each one can grow into a paw paw tree, bearing more paw paws that you can sell.
Don’t want to wait that long?
Then sell little pawpaw trees in pots!
The pots for your pawpaw trees don’t even have to be real pots – they can be plastic plant bags you purchase at a nursery or at some hardware stores.
Short on cash? Then just plant the pips in regular plastic packets you already have in your house, or ask for extra packets next time you go grocery shopping (about 40c each?)
Also, just regular soil from your garden will do for planting the pips in. Use soil from not too far away from something else that is growing nicely (but not from too close or the plant that is already growing nicely there may get upset!) No garden? Ask a few friends if you can get some soil from their gardens. Have to plant your paw-paw pips indoors or keep your pots or packets of little growing trees indoors? Make sure it’s close to a sunny window.
If you’re in even more of a hurry (or desperate for extra cash) then sell paw-paw seedlings instead of little paw-paw trees. 6 in a tray.
Another fruit to consider, when wanting lots of pips from just one fruit (greater profit that if just one pip per fruit) is granadillas (passion fruit) (the purple ones), or guavadillas (the yellow ones).

Where can I get guavadilla and paw paw dilla seeds?
Hi Danielle
You can buy a granadilla (passion fruit – the purple ones) or a guavadilla (looks like a granadilla but is yellow) or a paw paw in a shop. Eat and enjoy the granadilla or guavadilla or paw paw and keep the pips. Let the pips dry out, and then plant them! Good luck!
