It’s not www.1picfortwenty it’s www.1pic4twenty

I recently enjoyed reading through Lisa Irby’s blog post asking Ever Regret Your Domain Name Choice? and I left a comment there saying pretty much no, I don’t,  as it’s worked out okay in the end. But now I do sort of regret it, as it’s an easy one to make mistakes with.  And all our own fault for choosing such an odd domain name.  It is easy to type in www.1picfortwenty or even www.onepicfortwenty, or even www.1pickfor20 when we have a domain name like http://www.1pic4twenty.co.za An article about Tony and I appeared in the local weekly paper today (the Go! in East London, South Africa) and we were pleased to see it, but a mistake had been made with our website address, www.1pic4twenty.co.za -  It’s not the end of the … Read entire article »

We received our first ever Google adsense cheque (check?) in the post today!

UPDATE (JULY 2010) Here’s a photo of me holding my THIRD GOOGLE ADSENSE CHEQUE. Thanks to Google, Google adsense, and all the website owner marketers who use pay per click (PPC) advertising methods, we received our very first adsense paycheck in the mail today! Also see We South Africans earned R500 from Google Adsense last month We’re in East London in South Africa, and are very proud of our cheque for R1000. It took a long time to reach the minimal payout amount (for South Africans it’s R1000) – about a year – , but then again, we didn’t have all that many pages on our websites or blogs when we first added adsense coding to our pages. The last few months, when we started adding more pages to our sites (and more … Read entire article »

www.workfromhomeideas.co.za is our new work from home ideas website!

We were checking the availability of domain names for something else, possibly a web design client, can’t remember now, and just suddenly thought of checking to see if workfromhomeideas.co.za was available too – and it was! We couldn’t believe it wasn’t already taken, (workfromhome.co.za is already taken), so took it! Our new work from home ideas website is only one page at the moment, – update January 2010: the site now has 5 pages, and we will still be adding more – as we’re pretty busy with some writing, web design, and graphic design work right now, but as soon as we get the chance, we’ll be adding many pages to our new site, which will help people work from home, or start their own business, and help people to stop … Read entire article »

You’re worried about your children not finding work when they leave school

The information in this article below can be used by anyone wanting to earn an income from home, not just teenagers struggling to find work once finished school (or their parents trying to help them.) Just about anyone can earn a fairly decent income from home if they just put in a bit of time and effort, and if they don’t give up. Although some parents might want to keep their babies at home forever, they do also want to help in any way they can to get their children self supportive. There are many concerns regarding your child finding work after leaving school. You don’t have money for further studies, and, anyway, your child is not really an outgoing person. Will they really fit into the working world out there? They’re … Read entire article »

Using your kitchen to work from home

Get out those old cook books and recipes and get creative earning money from your kitchen! Frozen meals This is maybe not an easy market to get into, but once you have, it can prove to be lucrative. Browse through your recipe books, prepare the meals, and freeze them. You would need a fair-sized freezer in your kitchen. Packaging must be microwave-able. Meals must LOOK attractive. Keep the parts of the meal separate (meat, rice, and 2 veg). I will never ever buy a frozen stew that looks like a garden splodge. Soups are good, as they are easy to prepare, freeze well, are tasty and nutritious. An idea is to offer your clients a menu. They order, you make and freeze, they collect their meals and pay. Then don’t just forget about … Read entire article »

Identify what it is you want to do working from home

You want or need to work from home, but what is it that you want to do? I seriously doubt that there is any housewife out there who is content to only be a housewife. All people have their own special needs, desires, and talents. Even those moms who are married to good providers have a desire to do something other than cooking, cleaning and laundry. My message here is that unless we are brain-dead, we will always want that little bit more than what we have. Many people join clubs, do voluntary work, or generally get involved in something just to keep themselves busy. For others it is crucial, for themselves, and for their families, that they generate an income. Being a full-time mom creates a problem, inasmuch your family needs you, … Read entire article »
