Doesn’t it make you sick when poor content articles are easily found?
To write good content that may not be easily found, but is helpful to viewers, or write a load of rubbish (or steal somebody elses’ article and spin it dizzy and end up with the biggest bit of trash) but get found easily? Oh, and of course offer Google Adsense ads for people to click on (on the rubbish article pages), so that people can maybe find the info that WILL be of help, and will be written with proper grammar. The sad thing about providing good content for viewers, when using Google Adsense as a method to try earn a bit of extra income, is that those ads are hardly ever clicked, because the viewer has found what information they’re looking for right on your page! So, what to do? As much as Tony … Read entire article »
Guilty of NOT clicking Google Adsense ads
Maybe it’s because Tony and I are web designers, who also do some basic organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for our clients, and we therefore know the efforts that go into producing some good organic search engine results, or also understand the time and effort it takes to leave decent comments on blogs and forums, to get backlinks. More often than not, when searching for information on eg Google, and clicking one of the ten organic results on page one, we find sites with good, relevant information. More often than not, when clicking the ads right at the top, or off to the right, (we at least personally) find the sites to not have us much relevant info for us, as the sites that are in the organic results. … Read entire article »
How Google Adsense can help my kids with their future
My boys are 11 and 12 now, and there’s not much money, in general, and especially not enough to take better care of the boys and provide for them as much as I would like to. In fact, right now, Tony and I are seriously broke. February this year (2010) was the best month we’ve had since we started our little business in Feb 2008, and we got pretty excited, then work just started to, like, not come in as quickly before. We have not yet fully paid my parents (where we live) for rent this month, and are also then obviously nowhere near paying back the boys for having used some of their leftover birthday monies that we have used just for everyday necessities. We have at least paid our telephone … Read entire article »

How and where can I check the stats of my website or blog?
If you’re curious to know stats about your blog or website, even though you’re selling enough products, getting lots of blog comments or being hired for your services (you might just be curious, instead of looking at ways you can improve the findability of your site or blog), here are some of the things we do to check our own stats: One of the main ways we check our stats is by having access to the control panel of our sites , through the hosting package we have – most website hosts will give you the details to access your control panel, but will often warn you not to fiddle with anything else there, for fear of messing up your site looks and functions (if designed by somebody other than yourself.) … Read entire article »

Other ways to beat writer’s block and write for SEO
I have already written a post on our Work at Home Jobs blog entitled To make money blogging, what should you blog about? but I left out a few things. Even with the list of ideas I gave (on the blog post I link to above) to help people find toipics to write about, one might still need to come up with more topics. So, where does one find these topics? And when one is also trying to optimize one’s articles for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), where can one find ideas about what to write about? Well, go onto Google, and type just about anything into the search bar – although preferably related to something you know a bit about already, or at least interests you quite a lot. Type just the … Read entire article »
Why should I get a website?
This article is about why you should get a website, or the advantages and disadvantages of having a website, and NOT about how your website is going to be found or how you are going to market it, once you have one – that’s a different article that you can read about here: How are people going to find my website? I’m going to describe the advantages and disadvantages related to getting a static html website designed. (You may also want to read about what different kinds of websites there are.) A static html website is a website that has pages that merely give information, and possibly have a contact form, or accommodation booking form, perhaps a couple of photos, perhaps even a slideshow of photos, something moving slightly to draw … Read entire article »

We received our first ever Google adsense cheque (check?) in the post today!
UPDATE (JULY 2010) Here’s a photo of me holding my THIRD GOOGLE ADSENSE CHEQUE. Thanks to Google, Google adsense, and all the website owner marketers who use pay per click (PPC) advertising methods, we received our very first adsense paycheck in the mail today! Also see We South Africans earned R500 from Google Adsense last month We’re in East London in South Africa, and are very proud of our cheque for R1000. It took a long time to reach the minimal payout amount (for South Africans it’s R1000) – about a year – , but then again, we didn’t have all that many pages on our websites or blogs when we first added adsense coding to our pages. The last few months, when we started adding more pages to our sites (and more … Read entire article »

SEO People Who Promise Or Guarantee You That Your Website Will Be Found on Page 1 of Google
Three people approach a Search Engine Optimization specialist, and ask the SEO specialist if he can get their websites found on page one of Google for a specific search term or word. The specialist says yes, he guarantees it. In the meantime, during that same week, one hundred website owners with the same wish approach other SEO specialists who all guarantee the same thing. These website owners are all upset when they don’t get the results they wanted, and paid for. Some of those 103 website owners may get what they wanted and paid for, and be very happy, but it will never be more than ten that appear on the first page of Google search results! There is only room on page 1 for ten results! Also, even if you make page … Read entire article »

We’re currently no.1 on Google.co.za for web design!
Four days ago, (15 August 2009), we decided to check how we were doing on Google.co.za for the search phrase “web design.” And there we were, at no.3! We checked again the next day and we’d moved up to no.1! Out of over 300 million results! We’re not sure when last we checked, probably at least a month ago, when we weren’t even on the first ten pages. A month ago or so, we were there for other search terms, on page one, but longer ones such as “web design photography writing” – or see which others too, on our blog post Reasons why leaving a comment on our blog might be good for you, but not just for two words being two words we’ve been striving to be found for! We’re really pleased! But also … Read entire article »

To get Banned from Google Adsense, ask people to click on your ads
I’m an honest person and I like to stick to rules. I usually go through the terms and conditions of websites I join or applications I use. If I enjoy a site or an application, especially if it benefits me in any way, I certainly don’t want to get banned, and make sure I know all the rules to avoid getting banned. Since I can earn money directly from Google Adsense by displaying Google Adsense on my blog or website pages, I don’t mess with the rules. I don’t want to risk getting banned. Also, don’t click on other people’s ads just because you feel you’re doing them a favour. Google is smart, and, in some cases, even those doing the clicking have been traced and penalised in one way or … Read entire article »
