If your teenager is not too technical, but is good with his hands or crafts, or she’s good with baking and other kitchen activities, she can mix a bit of offline and online work by creating products to sell and then displaying them on her website, or even on her free blog. If your son or daughter can write a half decent letter, he or she will be able to find writing work online. There are loads of people needing content for their websites, blog posts written, or even ebooks written.

Alternatively, your child can write for his or her own website or blog – a lot – and display Adsense ads on the site, or affiliate banners, related to the various topics on the different pages. When the Adsense ads are clicked, they generate a small income. When the websites that the affiliate banners lead to are visited, and something is bought, a commission is earned.

Working from home also saves money otherwise spent on office clothing and transport. Using a computer to do online freelance work should never be overlooked when wondering what your child is going to do after school, but get them set up to start practicing now.
