Visit the East London Harbour on the Buffalo River. Enjoy a meal overlooking the yachts moored nearby. Buy some super fresh fish, go on a thrilling adrenalin pumping ride on a rubber duck, wearing life jackets for when you fly into the air as the rubber duck jumps waves, take a leisurely cruise on the Ballyhoo catamaran, or simply enjoy a stroll on the wooden walkway, being careful to keep your children from venturing too near to the edge of the harbour wall.

Visit the East London Aquarium and stroll along the whale deck in the hope of catching site of one of the whales that visit East London.  Watch a seal show, and watch the penguins being fed.  The East London aquarium is the oldest aquarium in South Africa.  Read a fictional short story for children entitled Percy Penguin’s Big Escape from the East London Aquarium with photos -to help carry the story along.  The aquarium is also famous for having a gay penguin couple who have successfully hatched a penguin chick.

Travel through Beacon Bay, East London to Bonza Bay, to visit Bonza Bay Beach, where the lagoon is safe and shallow for little ones to play, or take a refreshing dip in the ocean or climb a high sand dune.  When the Nahoon River Mouth is shallow, you could even wade across it and walk to Bonza Bay Beach and back, which will be about a 4km walk in total.  Jog along this East London coastline area to practice for the Surfers Marathon, or pop down to Bonza Bay Beach to cheer on the Surfers Marathon runners and walkers as they run or walk by, in February every year, with 14 kilometres behind them, and just 2 km to go.

The Gonubie boardwalk, beach, and river are great places to explore. Visit the Gonubie Hotel for a drink or two, take your binoculars to the Gonubie Bird Sanctuary, or simply be a relaxing tourist and enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Gonubie River, further upriver at the picnic spots. There are many bed and breakfast, self catering, and guest house accommodation establishments in Gonubie, including Panorama bed and breakfast.

The Jikeleza Route, along the East Coast Resorts Road is a popular area for both visitors to East London, and to those who already reside in East London.  There are many accommodation establishments, restaurants, and beautiful beaches.  There are not too many shops in this area, which adds to the holiday feel and being away from it all, but holiday makers can find all they need at The Village Centre at Crossways, where, amongst others, there is a restaurant or two, a Spar, a dvd hire store and a pharmacy.  Visit Cintsa Horses or stay at Petra and Spuds self catering accommodation in Kwelera Village.

Brakfontein is not right on the coast, but is a stunning piece of countryside many overlook.  Drive through the area to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the East London countryside.

Areena Resort is situated on the Kwelera River and is a fantastic East Coast resort to take the whole family to for a range of water activities, quad biking, and game viewing, or to simply enjoy a meal at the Areena restaurant.

Hi, love your pictures. I always had a passion for taking pictures of sunsets. But with my present camera, these sights come out blurred. My dream is to obtain a Nikon Camera which will allow me to be able to capture these awesome sights.
