Our First Blog Post, July 2009

So, Tony and I have decided to introduce a blog to our website. We hope it brings lots of traffic to our website, and that readers enjoy our ramblings. We also hope that readers leaving their own website links will receive a decent amount of traffic back to their own sites, and therefore have further reason to say that they enjoy our blog, and our website – 1pic4twenty

You are welcome to include information in your comment on this page about what your own blog is about, why you have a blog, and whether or not it’s doing for you what you originally hoped it would do.

You can also make use of our Free Blog Directory Listing where you can leave a link and description about your blog.

Our blog is brand new for us (July 2009) and any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Please familiarise yourself with our moderation system on the blog home page. (our “Welcome to our blog” page.)

Welcome to our blog everyone!

  1. This looks like it is going to be a great blog and I especially like being able to leave my website here for other people to see. And I would be more than glad to put your site on my blog roll.

    Thanks for your comments Margaret

Your blog has some fantastic articles about pets, and I hope you get lots of visitors to it.

You may enjoy our post about our jack russell puppy and what she left us to find in the office one morning!

We’re still learning about blogging and blog rolls etc, and not sure what everything is yet!

I started blogging when I joined MySpace and at first it was all over the place as I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with it. Now that I’m currenting writing reviews on books, movies and music at BlogCritics, as this is one of the ways that promote and highlight my writing. More intimate than my BC articles, many of the entries include tidbits of my own personal RnR history. I never thought it would turn out that I would chronicle some of my past life in the music industry within the confines of my blog but I’m finding it to be rather rewarding.

I’m looking forward to keeping up with your blog as I’m enjoying your point(s) of view and the insight into your family. The only advice I have for you is to continue with what you are doing…keeping it real and making me feel like I’ve made some new friends.

Next, I’m off to explore your website.

    Thanks!

  5. This is the first time I’m commenting on your blog.

Hey Guys. Really enjoying your website. Eric and I have started surfskiing lately so the Surfers Marathon article caught my eye, as we plan to paddle it next year. I had forgotten what an amazing athlete you were at school Terry but reading the article brought it all back. You were the legendary long jumper and cross-country runner in our time! Good to see you are still going at it.

    Hi Gill
Thanks for the visit and comments. We’re pleased you popped in.
I’m not really still at it (fitness), but do hope to get back into it sometime soon!
That surfskiing sounds great, plus I know you’re cycling a lot too – you must be way fitter than I am right now, and I think you’ll enjoy the Surfers Marathon. Good Luck!

Blogging does take some practice to figure out just what you want to say. Finding your focus or your niche will be simple once you find your voice in your industry. I find that promoting my site through blogging helps generate content, interest and links pages. On the site I manage, http://www.classesandcareers.com/ there is an education blog. We write about current events, opinions, the trials and rewards of going to school, getting a degree and being in the work place. I find that promoting my blog through the social media helps to generate traffic. My home page is now a PR 5. It took some work to get there, but it feels good to have arrived. If you want to go the social media route, I would suggest starting with Digg, Mixx, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Delicious and Diigo for starters. It is a great way to make connections and advertise your blog and your services.

  9. I like this site, very well organized, with good content. I’ll definitely check back in…Thanks
