Why get your Teenagers a R720 Website for Christmas?

Imagine giving your teenagers their own website for Christmas. At just R720 too!

Christmas morning you hand them an envelope containing their log in details to their very own .co.za domain website!

It’s not a Blogger site or a WordPress.com site as those kinds of sites have website addresses that end in blogspot.com or wordpress.com (and are totally free.) For example I have three totally free Blogger blogs and their addresses end in blogspot.com They are tntunleashed.blogspot.com and teresaschultz.blogspot.com and makemoneyuseinternet.blogspot.com They are nice sites and I like having them, but I also have sites where I pay for hosting and domain registration so that I can have a unique Internet address and be more professional, like
Online Flea Market,
Make Money Writing Online,
Work From Home Ideas,
and Web Design Designer.
Although I like my free Blogger sites, I don’t like having part of my website address being the same as thousands of others (blogspot.com)

The Online Flea Market site above is the kind of site I’m talking about that you can get your teenager for Christmas for just R720 – or as a birthday present for anybody, or even for yourself!

Mentioning the Online Flea Market site does not mean your teenager’s website has to look just like it – there are over a thousand free themes to choose from!

Besides having a unique domain name for a website, what other reasons are there for giving your teenagers a R720 website for Christmas?

Well, the type of website I’m talking about is a WordPress blog, but not the type that has an address that ends in wordpress.com The type of WordPress blog I’m speaking about is the kind where you can get a free theme (the way the site looks) at wordpress.org Then one still needs to register and pay for a domain name and get and pay for hosting for the site, upload the site to the host servers, and configure a few basic settings on the site.

We at TnT can do all this for you, for your teenager, at R720, and your teenager will be able to just log in from the log in details we send you, and can start adding pages and photos to his or her very own site.

Question:
Okay, but why should I get a R720 website for my teenagers for Christmas, besides it being “cool” for them to have their very own domain name website?

Answer:

Well, besides giving them something else to do indoors in their spare time besides play computer games too much, and also besides the fact that they can actually earn some extra income from their website, they can automatically start learning more about Internet marketing, and apply what they learn to more easily enable them to advertise their business one day.

If they don’t have their own business one day, they can still use their own site for earning some extra income in their spare time.

Also, should they finish their last year of school, and not go study further, or in any way need to find a job, they can actually make a living from their website and from writing online, but because the process can take a while before it is of much benefit, they would have already had a bit of a head start while still at school (or even duing a year they take off before trying to find a fulltime job that they may not actually find at all!)

Earnings possibilities aside, their website can later be changed into a website that represents their business one day (well, I guess that still relates to earnings then!) and they can also simply use their site as their own little space for their musings, news, photos, poetry, stories and whatever they like.

Regards using their website to make some money from, they can write about and advertise something they make or do that they’d like to sell or make some money from.

If they want to put adverts on their site, they may need some help from you, a parent, if they are not yet 18. You can get an Adsense publisher account and let them use your publisher id number on their site until such time as they can get their own Adsense account, where they would then just replace the old ads on their site with theirs that contain their own Adsense publisher id instead of yours.

When people click on the ads on their pages, they earn a commission, and when they have reached an amount of R1 000 in commission, Google Adsense post them a cheque. It usually takes a while to get to that first Google Adsense payout though, so it’s a good idea to start with the project while your teenagers are still in school, using your Adsense publisher id, until they are older.

Remember never to click the ads on your site yourself! You could get banned from having an Adsense publisher account.

If you like the whole idea (and I don’t see why you shouldn’t as having your own website has a great amount of advantages going for it) you may even want one for yourself instead, or as well.
