School and Stuff » Aged 10 to 14 » Jeepers, but boys go through school socks!
Well, mine do anyway. What on earth do they do with these socks at school? Do they take off their shoes and run around in just their socks? Do they take off their socks and clean the classroom floor with them?
Black water is a commonplace thing in our home – after white socks have been soaking in a bit of jik to get rid of all that grime.
Boys will be boys, I guess, but gee, those school socks don’t only get dirty and grubby so quickly, they also get stretched out of proportion – what are the boys trying to do, pull them up to their thighs?
And, of course, I have to keep reminding them not to leave them all squashed up in their shoes over a weekend, in case I forget to check there, and that they must put them into the wash basket in the bathroom! They’re old enough now (11 and 12) to be more responsible about their dirty school clothes going to the wash straight away, when they get home from school – okay, okay, I do generally check that they’ve done it, but, yinna tog, I wish they’d remember more often on their own.
And lost. How do they lose school socks so easily? In winter, when they’re not taking them off for school swimming?
Ja well, still love them to bits – the boys, not the socks!
